Welcome to the Chapel Hill Organization

We are a community-led group that conducts research into environmental issues affecting our community.

OUR MISSION: “Inspire the Community to Revive our Quality of Life”

OUR PURPOSE: “Create a Community of Informed Activists”

” The Chapel Hill Organization is partially funded by the Hercules Exposome Roadshow and Community Grant Program.

The HERCULES program provides funding to organizations that aim to conduct outreach, promote community awareness of local environmental health concerns, or collect information needed to address local environmental health concerns. HERCULES funds may not be spent to lobby federal, state, or local officials to influence legislation nor for use in litigation. This website represents the views of the Chapel Hill Organization and does not necessarily represent the position of the Hercules Exposome Research Center.

WHO WE ARE

Why We Are Doing This

We are just everyday people who became “Concerned Citizens” who started to realize that what we were hearing from our elected officials and public servants just was not adding up. When you look at what we have uncovered, you will see why we had to organize. As one member put it “They are doing this to us because we are letting them do it and not standing up”.

Our Humble Beginnings

We started in December 2017 from a grassroots group of 5 unrelated “Concerned Citizens” in the Brook Glen and Chapel Hill subdivisions. We are growing and now total over 400+ “Concerned Citizens”. Together we will make a difference!

What We Discovered

The more we research, the more we are stunned & the more unbelievable stuff we find. The Silence in which our community is being manipulated is both Deafening and Deadly. We will continue our research/analytics to just show the facts & tell the truth. The truth needs to be told.

What We Do

Research For The Truth

DeKalb County has a long standing history of corruption and deception. There is a lack of transparency in government and the dialogue the County often times puts out just does not add up.

Show You The Hard Facts

We have taken the County’s data and presented it in a clear manner. The real issue is that the environment we are living in is affecting our health, quality of life, and diminishing our property values.

Organize For Proactive Change

We reach out to all levels of government to affect proactive change. Starting from the lowest level we move up the hierarchy to resolve issues. An organized group is more effective than a thousand individual voices.

MOST OF THE ANSWERS TO OUR QUESTIONS ARE BURIED IN DEKALB COUNTY OPEN RECORDS DATA. KNOWING WHAT TO LOOK FOR AND WHERE IT IS LOCATED IS 90% OF THE PROCESS.

>3+ Billion

Gallons of raw, toxic industrial waste has gone through our community over the past 30+ years in defective sewer lines.

10 Years

The 10 Year Federal Consent Decree covers mostly North DeKalb County (roughly 75%). South DeKalb has most of the spills/issues & is under-represented in the Consent Decree.

1,000s of

Menacing Vultures, attracted to the methane emissions at the landfill and toxic off-gassing in sewer lines, live in the area – constantly circling above homes, roosting on rooftops, and destroying property

Activate Yourself

If you don’t get anything else from this website.

PLEASE DO THESE TWO THINGS!!!!!!

  • Vote for someone that cares as much as you do about your community.

  • Hold your elected officials accountable and demand more than just lip service every time they come around asking for your vote.
